THE Oaks is the feature on day one of the Derby Festival with the unbeaten favourite Desert Flower currently at Unibet 11/8 to follow up on her dominant 1000 Guineas success.
The main challenger near the top of the market looks to be Minnie Hauk, who certainly stayed on well to win the Cheshire Oaks, however I prefer the chances of Elwateen as outlined below.

These look the right conditions for him and you can expect a big run.

Giavellotto has appeared a few times in my Unibet blog and he looks the each way play to finish behind the red-hot favourite Calandagan on his first run at Epsom.
He has bags of quality form and ignore his last run when he didn’t get the run of the race to make a challenge.
Giavellotto has won three of his last five starts, including two over this trip and you can expect this genuine individual to run a big race.

Elwateen (nap) is impeccably bred by Dubawi, who sired the first two home in the 2024 Oaks and with her trainer sounding confident about this filly staying this trip it was a good move to supplement her for this classic.
Elwateen is having her third career run after winning her maiden on the all-weather at Kempton last August, when rallying well after being headed and then she went straight to the 1000 Guineas where she was my each way selection. Her temperament in the parade ring was excellent, as she clearly handled the preliminaries well and then Elwateen ran a big race to finish fourth behind Desert Flower after always racing prominently, although the data will tell you that her inexperience showed when she clearly didn’t handle the dip on the Rowley Mile.
Elwateen has a great attitude, and she looks sure to step up significantly from an experience and performance perspective with Epsom looking very likely to suit her.
