Epsom – Friday

2:05 Woodcote Stakes

Logi Bear (Jamie Spencer)
He’s a very speedy colt who has improved with each run and was quite impressive at Newmarket last time, where he handled the dip well. He has also run very well at Goodwood, so he is clearly effective on these unconventional tracks. This is obviously a step up but he’s in good shape and deserves to take his chance.

Norman’s Cay (David Egan)
We deliberately decided to give him a break after winning the Brocklesby to allow him time to grow and fill out, and he has done really well. We were looking at going to Sandown last week, but it was plenty dry enough, and there’s a bit of rain forecast on Friday, which we feel will help because he won at Doncaster on Good to Soft. We’ve won this race with some nice horses down the years, and hopefully this lad is up to that standard, at least.

Raakeb (Sean Levey)
I was very happy with his run at Beverley last time, which is usually a decent race, and the step up to six (furlongs) will definitely be in his favour. He’s a tough little colt with a great attitude and is certainly no back number.

4:35 Handicap

Mr Baloo (Sean Levey)
You couldn’t ask for a more consistent horse, but I fear the handicapper is finally catching up with him, although he has been left alone since his last run. I think a fast run mile around a track like this will play to his strengths, and with a bit of luck, he’ll be bang there.

5:10 Handicap

Local Hero (Sean Levey)
He probably hit the front a bit too soon at Haydock last time, but it was still a solid effort, and I think the return to seven furlongs is a plus. He’s come down another couple of pounds, and I seriously rate his chance.
