Rosallion, who is trained by Unibet Ambassador Richard Hannon, heads the market at Unibet 13/8, in a cracking renewal of the Lockinge Stakes Group 1 at Newbury.
Rosallion missed out on the 2000 Guineas last year behind Notable Speech, who will like the quick ground in the Lockinge and then Rosallion went on to win three Group 1s.
Although Rosallion hasn’t been seen since Royal Ascot, he has been working well at home, whilst Dancing Gemini has the race fitness after wins at Doncaster and Sandown but he doesn’t look my idea of the winner.
Tamfana is a different matter and this filly and Rosallion will be the first two. See below.

1:25 Newbury – Highclere Castle Gin Carnarvon Stakes Listed Race (6f)
Hold A Dream (nap) has strong each way claims in a renewal where Ides Of March is the right favourite, yet this filly was a good juvenile and stepped up massively earlier this month when only just held by Lady of The Lamp in the Listed Chelmer Stakes at Chelmsford.
This was a strong race and the third home Star Of Mehmas just lost out by a head at York in the Listed Westow Stakes at the Dante Festival.
If Hold A Dream steps up again, she will be right in the mix and she looks overpriced.
2:00 Newbury – Trade Nation London Gold Cup Handicap Heritage Handicap (1m 2f)
Lightening Mann is progressing well and really caught the eye when winning at the Guineas Festival last time out when showing a great attitude to outbattle Watching Stars in second and the favourite Merchant in third. Merchant has really franked the form at York this week with an easy victory, which highlights the fact that Lightening Mann hasn’t been given the credit he deserves for his Newmarket success and he will run well.
Circus Of Rome is an intriguing contender and whilst I don’t normally select a second selection in a ten-runner handicap, he is worth a small each way wager. Circus Of Rome went straight in my notebook after his unlucky sixth at Sandown’s first flat meeting in late April on handicap debut and his first start on the turf.
He dropped awkwardly out of the stalls that day and then came from the rear to challenge two furlongs out, when consistently denied a clear run with any opportunity to progress significantly gone. He scored his first victory on his previous start at Wolverhampton on seasonal debut and this distance suits him.
2.35 Newbury – Lockinge Stakes Group 1 (1m)
Tamfana, was a good second to Dancing Gemini at Sandown when needing the run, as had been publicised beforehand. I was at Sandown that day and her trainer marked up the Lockinge as the next race, whilst importantly making the point that the quick ground she had at the Esher course suited her absolutely fine. Tamfana looked in terrific condition at Sandown and this filly and Rosallion will be the first two.
