AINTREE – SATURDAY
4:00 GRAND NATIONAL
HYLAND (NICO DE BOINVILLE)
He ran a very eye-catching race at Kempton when coming from behind, which suggested this trip will suit, and he jumps very well. He’s only a novice but has all the right credentials to run a big race on ground that he will love. He’s schooled over National-type fences and really enjoyed himself. This is obviously a different task entirely, but the Grand National has been his target for quite some time, and he sneaks in off a very nice weight. Can he be the one to break my National hoodoo? Let’s hope so!
CHANTRY HOUSE (JAMES BOWEN)
He has been the most marvellous servant to us all and I was delighted to see him get his head back in front at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day. He stays and jumps well so with a bit of luck he can run into a place.
Unibet are paying TWO EXTRA PLACES on this one!
1:20
Jeriko Du Reponet (Nico de Boinville)
He ran very well in the Pertemps and is five pounds higher, so has to pull more out of the fire, but he’s unexposed at this trip and has come out of Cheltenham well. This is another competitive race, and there may be a few lurking towards the bottom of the Handicap, but I’m happy with him and he should go close.
1:55
Lulamba (Nico de Boinville)
We decided to run here rather than the 4yo Anniversary Hurdle, which is over two miles, because we rather think two and a half around here, on good ground, will suit him better and he showed he is a very high-class horse when almost winning the Triumph. He receives a handy weight for age allowance, which is an obvious help and I’m looking forward to it.
Unibet are Super Boosting the price of the full field in this one!
