DONCASTER
Doctor Kildare (James Bowen)
He’s a horse we’ve always quite liked, but a few minor issues have meant that things haven’t entirely gone to plan, however, we’ve tinkered with his wind and despite making a few jumping errors at Kempton (of which we have worked on since), it was a step in the right direction, and he is more than capable of winning a race of this nature. He’ll have a handicap mark after this anyway.
By The Grace (James Bowen)
She was a shade unlucky not to win on her first run back at Hereford last time, but that will have sharpened her up, and the long straight at Doncaster will really suit. Ground-wise, I can’t see it being a problem because she’s a good moving mare, and I think she comes into this with a nice chance.
NEWBURY
Go To War (Nico De Boinville)
He’s a relatively new recruit to Seven Barrows, but ran well on his first outing for us and then didn’t get the rub of the green when stepped up in trip at Newbury last time. He got shuffled a bit too far back and didn’t enjoy it so he’ll be much more handier again here; he also picked up a nasty little cut to his near fore, so I’m prepared to ignore that run. He handles soft ground well and is in good shape.
Raffles Nobu (Brendan Powell)
He needed his first run for us at Sandown so should strip fitter now and much of his form in France is on very testing ground, therefore, he shouldn’t have any issue with conditions here. We’re going up in trip and it will be interesting to see how he fares.
