He has had his wind done since finishing third at Uttoxeter in June, so hopefully that helps. He had earlier won well for me at Cartmel on good ground, and he’d have a chance on that effort. Trip and ground are ideal and it is just a matter of whether the handicapper has caught up with him for now. Let’s hope not.

4.05pm Cheltenham

He has a 5lb penalty, which never helps, and I suppose we expected a bit more from him at Uttoxeter last time. But the step back up in trip will suit, as will the ground, and he has won around here over hurdles. Plus he has a big form chance on his Southwell win in June. I’d be hopeful of a bold show but Yeats Star and Theatre Man could be troublesome.
