Player to score – Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford v West Ham) 9/5
Only Erling Haaland and Luis Diaz have scored more goals in the Premier League this season than Bryan Mbeumo who has found the back of the net four times in just five matches. The Brentford forward has more than made up for the departure of Ivan Toney in the summer transfer window and will be a threat against West Ham this weekend.
West Ham are struggling badly. The Hammers have won just one of their opening five league games with new manager Julen Lopetegui already coming under pressure. Having kept just one clean sheet over the course of these five matches, Brentford will likely have chances to score on Saturday and Mbeumo could add to his tally.
Under 2.5 total goals – Everton v Crystal Palace (19/20)
Everton picked up their first point of the season away to Leicester City last weekend, but are still searching for their first win. The same goes for Crystal Palace who have endured a challenging start to the 2024/25 campaign that is in stark contrast to how the Eagles ended last season under Oliver Glasner.
Both Everton and Palace are ranked among the lowest teams for goals scored in the Premier League this term. The Toffees have scored just five times while Palace have found the back of the net four times with the Expected Goals (xG) of Sean Dyche’s team the fourth-lowest in the division. Saturday’s meeting might not produce many goals.
Match to be a draw – Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid (23/10)
Sunday’s Madrid Derby comes at a crucial point in the season for both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid. The two rivals have yet to suffer defeat in La Liga, but are struggling to keep pace with Barcelona who have a 100% record at the top of the table. Neither Atleti nor Real Madrid can afford to drop points even at this early stage.
Kylian Mbappe will miss Sunday’s derby after picking up a thigh injury in the mid-week win over Alaves. Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, faced Celta Vigo in a hard-fought match on Thursday evening and so Diego Simeone could rotate his team to keep them fresh. Many things point to this ending in a draw.
Both teams to score – Wolves v Liverpool (13/20)
Liverpool are firm favourites to win at Molineux this weekend. While Arne Slot’s team suffered a shock loss at home to Nottingham Forest not so long ago, they have since recovered with impressive wins over AC Milan, Bournemouth and West Ham.
The likes of Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah are in blistering form. Wolves, however, have scored at least once in every league match they have played so far this season with the exception of the opening day defeat to Arsenal. Gary O’Neill’s team is flawed, but boasts attacking quality in the form of players like Matheus Cunha, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Mario Lemina. They could score against the Reds.
Man United v Tottenham – Graham’s Bet Builder
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have both suffered challenging starts to the season. Erik ten Hag and Ange Postecoglou have come under pressure, making Sunday’s match at Old Trafford particularly important. United and Spurs both need a positive result to help them build some momentum.
United will likely look to exploit the space in the full back areas where Tottenham like to send players forward. This could lead to opportunities for Alejandro Garnacho who has been in good form despite still working his way up to full fitness after missing pre-season. Son Heung-min’s minor injury suffered against Qarabag on Thursday could be a factor.
