Player to score – Rodrygo (Real Madrid)

Real Madrid have an abundance of goalscorers who could make the difference at any time of Saturday’s Champions League final. Indeed, superstars Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior will be a threat for Los Blancos, but Rodrygo is an attractive price to find the back of the net at Wembley.

Rodrygo is Real Madrid’s joint-top scorer in this season’s Champions League having registered five goals in the competition. The Brazilian has earned a reputation for being a big game player having scored in the quarter-final against Manchester City and against Barcelona in El Clasico earlier this season.

Under 2.5 total goals

The Champions League final might be the most prestigious match in the European football calendar, but they aren’t always the most exciting spectacles. Indeed, each of the last four Champions League finals have been decided by a single goal, pointing to Saturday’s match being another tight affair.

Dortmund will most likely sit deep and ask Real Madrid to break them down. This is another thing that could contribute to a stodgy match on Saturday with the Black and Yellows keeping a clean sheet in six of their 12 Champions League games this season. 11 of the last 16 Champions League finals have produced under 2.5 goals.

Vinicius Junior over 1.5 shots on target

Borussia Dortmund will have to keep it tight at the back to stand any chance of overcoming Real Madrid on Saturday with the Spanish champions boasting a number of attacking talents who could make the difference. Vinicius Junior, however, will likely test Gregor Kobel more than any other player.

Vinicius is averaging three shots per 90 minutes for Real Madrid this season. Much of Real Madrid’s attacking game is geared towards getting the Brazilian forward released into space behind the opposition defence and that could be a problem for Dortmund if they allow Los Blancos to dictate the match.

Real Madrid to hit the woodwork

Paris Saint-Germain surely feel somewhat aggrieved that they aren’t the ones facing Real Madrid in this weekend’s Champions League final. The French giants hit the woodwork no fewer than six times in the semi-final against Dortmund. Had they been a little sharper in front of goal, they would have made the final.

Opposition teams have struck the woodwork 12 times against Dortmund this season, which is a Champions League record. It’s certainly true that the Black and Yellows have rode their luck in their run to this season’s Champions League final and that good fortune could strike once more at Wembley this weekend.

The last time Dortmund were losing at half time of a Champions League match was during the first leg of their quarter final against Atletico Madrid. Their defensive game plan could make Saturday’s final a tight encounter, but Real Madrid will surely have the attacking quality to grind them down eventually.

Set pieces will be a big part of Borussia Dortmund’s game plan against Real Madrid. This was how Mats Hummels scored the winner for the German team away to PSG in the semi-final and it could be their best chance of finding the back of the net at Wembley on Saturday. Their corner kick count will reflect this.
