THE 40th renewal of the Breeders’ Cup Championships takes place at Santa Anita, which is surely one of the most stunning racecourses in the world. It is a privilege to be here in California tor two days of fantastic racing, which across both Friday and Saturday looks very tricky and competitive. Ahead of the racing it has been great to head to Clocker’s Corner on the course for breakfast and to watch many of the declared runners doing some track work. The atmosphere is relaxed, the racing is accessible, and it is noticeable how much the trainers enjoy the Santa Anita experience.
Today, Tamara Unibet Evens looks unopposable in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, with Jodi’s Pride a strong each way selection, whilst the Aidan O’ Brien team can strike in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf with either River Tiber Unibet 9/4 or Unquestionable Unibet 100/30. It is a close call!
Enjoy whether at Santa Anita or watching #athome on ITV Racing.
Cheers!

9.00 Santa Anita – Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint Grade 1 (5f Turf)
Slider was second on debut and then scored his maiden success in good style on dirt in September. He then stepped up again here at Santa Anita when winning on turf for the first time over this trip last month after showing some really good early pace. Slider will really learn from that experience and can run a major race with home advantage to reward each way players.
Unibet are paying MONEY BACK AS CASH if your pick finishes 2nd or 3rd in this race!
9.40 Santa Anita – Netyets Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Grade 1 (1m Dirt)
Jodi’s Pride is overlooked on the back of two wins from two starts on the dirt at Sartoga and Belmont respectively over five and a half furlongs and six furlongs on dirt under very quick conditions, which they will be on Friday. Jodi’s Pride is by American Pharoah, who won over a range of trips from seven furlongs to one mile four furlongs on quick ground so this step up on trip looks ideal for this intriguing unexposed type.
10.20 Santa Anita – Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf Grade 1 (1m Turf)
Laulne is an intriguing runner who career form figures are 311132, with all her races up until now in France. After a good performance on her last start over six furlongs in a Group 3, when second to Dawn Charger at Chantilly in a race with strong figures, she was transferred to local Californian trainer Philip D’ Amato for this race, who has a good record with runners on their first start for him. This filly is by Starspangledbanner, who won from five furlongs to a mile on all types of ground so Laulne should be effective on this quicker ground and looks overpriced on the basis of what she has achieved and looks capable of achieving.
