THE final day of the three-day Cambridgeshire meeting at Newmarket has top class juvenile action and the Cambridgeshire Handicap, with a full field of 35. Heading the market is the three-year-old colt Greek Order, who is Unibet 100/30 favourite after a very visually impressive performance at Newbury. He could easily replicate the empathetic success of Lord North’s performance in the 2019 renewal, when he looked the winner in the way he was travelling from two furlongs out. Yet the potential hurly burly of the Cambridgeshire on his sixth career start might not show Greek Order at his best so others like the more experienced three-year-old Oviedo look a stronger proposition.
Enjoy whether at Newmarket or watching #athome on ITV Racing and Racing TV.
Cheers!

1.50 Newmarket – Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes Group 2 (1m)
Ghostwriter was impressive on debut here on the July course in August, when quickening clear to win easily and improved on that when making all and clocking a very good speed figure at Ascot, after still looking a little green in the closing stages. Fourth home Military Artist dotted up at Kempton on his next start, giving the form a solid look, and Ghostwriter can maintain his unbeaten record.

2.25 Newmarket – Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes Group 1 (6f)
Relief Rally has improved throughout the season and dispelled any notions about her not getting the sixth furlong in the Lowther Stakes Group 2 at York, when looking strong at the finish and hinting she may get further in time. This thoroughly genuine performer is kept to six furlongs here but has the beating of these on form, should enjoy the stiff finish and can take another step up in grade.

3.00 Newmarket – Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes Group 1 (6f)
Jasour hated the soft ground at Deauville when unplaced behind Vandeek, whose three wins to date have been on ground softer than good. Jasour, had previously looked a good horse when beating Lake Forest two lengths in the July Stakes here, when held up off the pace that day and strong in the finish, with looking like further will suit. He will be much closer to Vandeek today.

3.40 Newmarket – Cambridgeshire Heritage Handicap (1m 1f)
Dual Identity (nap) ran an absolutely stormer when third in this last year from stall six, when winning his group on the far side. He has taken his time finding his form this season but absolutely thrashed them in a competitive Sandown handicap earlier in the month when marked up in my Unibet blog. Dual Identity has done well to get away with only a seven-pound rise. The conditions clearly are no issue at all, whilst a middle draw gives him options and Dual Identity can deliver a career best performance.

Oviedo is a three-year-old colt having his tenth career start and has the experience of performing well in big handicaps, as he showed when second to Astro King (reopposes) at York at the Ebor Festival in a deep race. His four starts in 2023 have all been at class 1 and 2 levels over a mile and two furlongs or a similar trip, with a victory earlier on seasonal debut at Redcar. He has the ability and providing the ground stays quick enough he can run a big race.

Arqoob ran in the Cambridgeshire last year, however you can write that off as he didn’t leave the stalls smoothly resulting in a very slow start. This year he is drawn in stall 30 and has had two starts since returning to flat action after a busy jumps season. He was a good third on his last appearance in August and if building on that performance is now on a very similar mark to when successful over one mile two furlongs at Sandown last season in a Class 2 with a smart victory.
