DAY Two of the Boodles July Festival features the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes Group 1, and this is a fascinating renewal with Via Sistina and Nashwa heading the market, whilst I prefer the profile of Remarquee, who ran a great race behind Tahriya at Royal Ascot. 

Earlier in the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes Group 2 for Fillies it is very hard to see past Star Of Mystery Unibet 4/11 on. She couldn’t have been any more impressive when winning the Empress here a couple of weeks ago, and the time figure backs up the visuals. Star Of Mystery travelled very strongly throughout and the result was not in doubt from halfway. On the face of it this is tougher but she’s easily the form pick with the potential for better to come.

1.50 Newmarket – Handicap Heritage Handicap (1m 2f)

Westerton was starting to look exposed but quicker ground and different tactics – he went from the front at Sandown – saw improvement last time out, with Ryan Moore able to dictate terms and the way he went away for an easy 4½l win was eye-catching. Ryan Moore keeps the ride and Westerton probably done well to only get away with a 9lb rise.

Like A Tiger won easily on his penultimate start on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket back in April after rearing up coming out of the stalls and losing several lengths. Once he made his challenge, he looked inexperienced and was still looking around when moving clear. Unfortunately, he failed to shine at the Guineas Festival on his next appearance when finishing unplaced in a Listed race to Castle Way (won Bahrain Trophy Stakes Group 3 Stakes at the July Festival)  when the race came too soon. If Like A Tiger returns to form after having a longer break of 70 days, then he has strong claims.

3.00 Newmarket – Trophy Heritage Handicap (1m 6f)

Live Your Dream won this back in 2021 and after a long absence, has come back to run well on both starts this year, only just losing out at Haydock (Prydwen, a length away in third, 2lb better off here) and then running a stormer at Royal Ascot to be third in the Duke Of Edinburgh under a big weight when sent on too early doing too much. Live Your Dream has been nudged up 2lb for that run, but this step up in trip from Royal Ascot is a big play given he stays well as we saw in 2021, and this does not look that classy an affair.

Torcello is such a genuine performer and ran really well after dictating the pace and then just lost out very late on to HMS President at the Guineas Festival meeting at Newmarket. HMS President went on to be second at Royal Ascot in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes. Torcello hasn’t been seen since and providing the ground isn’t too quick will run a good race with strong place claims.

3.35 Newmarket – Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes Group 1 (1m)

Remarquee (nap) can hold off Irish Pretty Polly winner Via Sistina and last year’s Nassau winner both dropping back to a mile (some rain would help Via Sistina in that regard), who both on that basis have slight question marks here. Remarquee won the Fred Darling beating Stenton Glider in testing ground and then failed to show her form when third favourite for the 1,000 Guineas, as this classic came too soon after the Newbury race. She then showed her class when running Tahiyra to a length in the Coronation Stakes, a run that can be marked up a touch given the trouble she suffered in the race. Remarquee may not have beaten the very talented Tahiyra, yet Remarquee is back on track, with the speed to win this Group 1 over her ideal trip and she gets the nine-pound allowance too.

Unibet are BOOSTING the price of the favourite in this race! 

Ameynah hasn’t been seen since finishing sixth to Cachet when still looking green in the 2022 1,000 Guineas. It will be interesting to see how she performs after this layoff in this Group 1, as she is clearly talented and is worth a small each way wager.
