CHELTENHAM – THURSDAY
2:05
Tweed Skirt (Nico De Boinville)
This is a very competitive race but I do quite like her because she has ideal ground and this is her trip. She wasn’t disgraced in the G2 Pendil Novices’ Chase last time and she must come into this with a very realistic chance.
Unibet are paying an EXTRA PLACE in this race!
2:40
Queens Rock (Nico De Boinville) – NON RUNNER
I like her a lot. She was very impressive at Doncaster last time and is an improving mare who has been working and schooling very well at home. She has won on Soft ground (in a Maiden at Southwell) but good ground definitely suits her best and I would be extremely keen on her here.
Ahorsewithnoname (Harry Cobden)
Things haven’t gone entirely to plan this season and she was slightly disappointing in what ended up a messy race in the Mares’ last time. This is slightly calmer waters, and she’ll like the ground, but she will go back on the flat this summer where hopefully we’ll have a productive time like we did last year.
Spring Note (Paul O’Brien)
She is a lovely mare by Mahler who has done nothing wrong in all four starts and is clearly improving. However this is a big, big step up and I will be surprised if she’s quite good enough, but you never know!
3:50
Under Control (Nico De Boinville)
She was impressive on debut at Newbury in which, granted, might not have been the strongest race, and then was down the field in the Mares’ Novice. But she’s come out of Cheltenham in good shape and, first time in a Handicap, is obviously calmer waters than a Grade One at the Festival.
Arclight (Daryl Jacob)
I was a little disappointing with her at Ascot where I thought she’d almost win but I’m prepared to give her another chance because she’s in good shape, is fit and well and it’s important to support races like this.
