THE fourth day of Royal Ascot 2022 features a fascinating renewal of the Commonwealth Cup with plenty of contenders here. El Caballo can continue his relentless progress and later on Prosperous Village can run a big race in the Coronation Stakes.

Enjoy another fantastic day at #RoyalAscot2022 or watching #athome on ITV Racing.

3.05 Ascot – Commonwealth Cup Group 1 (6f)

El Caballo (nap) has won six of his seven career starts and completed his six-timer at Haydock in the Sandy Lane Stakes when showing he is still really progressive. He had several of his rivals behind that day, including the second Flaming Rib and the third Wings Of War. El Caballo has won over seven furlongs, which is an advantage at Ascot and he can make it a seven-timer.

Flotus looked very good last year, and her easy win at Ripon showed her as a speedy type. She handled quick ground very well when second to Tenebrism in the Group 2 Cheveley Park at Newmarket last September and this was a performance to mark up. On seasonal debut at Newmarket she reared up in the stalls and never settled properly when finishing fourth and then Flotus came right back to form at Haydock when beaten by a neck by Sense Of Duty on her latest start last month. She is very genuine and can reward each way players.

3.40 Ascot – Duke of Edinburgh Stakes Handicap (1m 4f)

Trawlerman is having only his sixth career start and this lightly raced type looked like a St Leger prospect last year and comes here off an attractive mark of 98. He loved the fast ground at Pontefract last year when cruising home and came back looking as good as ever when scoring at Chelmsford in April over one mile two furlongs and the step up in trip will definitely suit him well.

Cemhaan has moved up a level this season with a convincing win on seasonal debut at Salisbury in April and then he followed up at the Guineas Festival in great style. His Newmarket performance on quick ground when taking over the lead two furlongs out showed him at his best. Trainer George Baker marked up this race as the next target and Cemhaan had strong each way claims.

4.20 Ascot – Coronation Stakes Group 1 (1m)

Prosperous Voyage was the filly I was originally going to mark up for the 1,000 Guineas after her good performances when twice second to Inspiral (reopposes today) last season. I should have kept to my original thought as Prosperous Voyage overpriced at 33/1 came with a late challenge to be beaten a neck by Cachet in the 1,000 Guineas. Cachet herself ran well in France to give the Guineas form a good look and there is plenty to like about Prosperous Voyage’s chances from stall 12 where she can go forward. She handles quick ground, is still improving and interesting that Ralph Beckett has kept her to a mile.

5.00 Ascot – Sandringham Stakes Handicap (1m)

Washraa is looking to make it a three-timer in 2022 after a win at Wolverhampton in April, followed by a good success at Nottingham over one mile and half furlong, when beating Invigilate, who takes the winner on again. Washraa still looked green when coming to challenge at Nottingham and there was plenty to like about the way she went away at the finish.

6.10 Ascot – Palace Of Holyroodhouse Stakes Handicap (5f)

Nymphadora ran a cracker at Chester on her reappearance and handicap debut when second to Live The Dream. This performance can be marked up given the good to soft ground was probably against her, and a mark of 96 looks attractive, given she was campaigned in mainly Group company. There is more to come in handicap company and Nymphadora can get right in the places.
