THE final day of the Cambridgeshire Meeting features two Group One races with the Cheveley Park and Middle Park Stakes. In the Cambridgeshire Handicap we have a typically competitive renewal with the last six runnings won by horses drawn 21 or higher. The previous four renewals did see some single figure winners so I’m definitely not ruling out those drawn low as there are plenty of fancied runners drawn in a single figure stall. Unibet are paying six places in the Cambridgeshire, and I have marked up three runners, with two trained by Saeed bin Suroor and one by Roger Varian, both have their yards in tremendous form.

Earlier in the card I’m looking forward to seeing Trillium, trained by Unibet Ambassador Richard Hannon, who has been so impressive on her last two starts. Also, Persian Force runs in the Middle Park for Richard Hannon and this genuine colt has not been out of the first two in six career starts.

Enjoy whether on the Rowley Mile or watching on ITV Racing and Racing TV.

2.05 Haydock – Old Boston Handicap (1m)

Wanees is having his first start after being gelded and this talented individual has strong each way claims. He was a classy winner at Sandown in April and then after a break he was sixth in the Britannia at Royal Ascot when taking a keen hold, having to be taken to the start early. On his most recent appearance at Goodwood, he ran far too free when pulling himself to the front before dropping away. He is much better than that and Wanees, who has won three of his six starts, will be much closer here.

2.25 Newmarket – Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes Group 1 (6f)

Trillium for Unibet Ambassador Richard Hannon won at Newbury over six furlongs and then was brilliant at Goodwood in the Molecomb when showing a fantastic turn of foot to beat Rocket Rodney by 1¼ lengths. Trillium then completed her hat-trick at Doncaster in the Flying Childers when beating the totally genuine The Platinum Queen by a short head just on the line on soft ground. The return to six furlongs is fine for this smooth travelling type and could suit Trillium even more with the quicker ground looking likely to be more in her favour too.

3.00 Newmarket – Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes Group 1 (6f)

Zoology, who has had one career start earlier this month, has plenty to find on the bare figures but this handsome-looker despite a lot of greenness pre-race at Yarmouth, was very impressive on debut. Zoology had the race won by halfway and looks to have a high cruising speed. There is no predicting how good he could be, though at minimum he will make another big step forward here, as he has tremendous potential.

3.40 Newmarket – Cambridgeshire Stakes Heritage Handicap (1m 1f)

Brilliant Light is drawn in stall 23 and there will be plenty of pace here on this side of the draw, which is what he needs. Last time out they didn’t go quick enough over one mile two furlongs when he was fifth to stablemate Marching Army (won Newbury last Saturday), having finished second to Forest Falcon (reopposes here) at Glorious Goodwood when not getting a smooth run on his previous start. We know he gets the nine furlongs, and this talented individual has good each way claims here.

Kitsune Power for the Roger Varian team, who are in tremendous form, is progressing very nicely, as this three-year-old has only finished outside the first two on one occasion this season when running at Royal Ascot. Last time out he won over one mile two furlongs at Beverley in good style, having finished second at Glorious Goodwood when making a late challenge after not getting a clear run on a couple of occasions. Earlier in the season he won at Leicester and Nottingham. Kitsune Power has won on good to firm and good ground so conditions will be ideal. He is drawn in stall 7 and providing one of the lower drawn or those drawn in the centre like Majestic Dawn force the pace then he can move through late on.

Night Of Luxury has won three times over one mile two furlongs on soft and good to firm going. Last time out he didn’t appear to stay over one mile four furlongs at Ascot so best to draw a line through that race. Night Of Luxury is wearing headgear for the first time, with the Saeed bin Suroor team having a great record with first time headgear. This three-year-old started the season on a mark of 75 and is on 92 now with the right profile for the Cambridgeshire.

5.25 Newmarket – Turners Handicap (7f)

The Attorney (nap) won his first race of the season at Doncaster last month and this specialist at this trip can follow up here. He was second at Goodwood on his penultimate start and ran really well when marked up in my Unibet blog to finish fifth in the Bunbury Cup.
