NEWMARKET

2:25 G1 Cheveley Park Stakes

Trillium (Pat Dobbs)

You guys from Unibet came down in the week and saw for yourself what form she’s in and I’m really looking forward to running her. She’s won her Group Three and Group Two so this is the next logical step, and while she only just got up in the Flying Childers she stayed on really well which gives me a lot of confidence stepping back up to six furlongs. It is quite a quick return but she handles her racing well and is a very relaxed horse at home so I don’t really have any concerns on that score. I think she’ll stay further and if she’s going to be a Guineas filly for next year she’d need to win this or go mightily close.

3:00 G1 Middle Park Stakes

Persian Force (Rossa Ryan)

He really deserves to win a Group One having finished second in his last two and while there’s no specific reason why he should reverse form with Blackbeard, there was only half a length between them in the Morny so he has to be taken very seriously and he’s there to give it his best shot. He’s been a very good colt right from the very start and if the ground stays good he has every chance.

4:15 Maiden

Oriental Dancer (Jamie Spencer)

She needs to step up considerably on what she’s shown in her first two starts and this looks a good Maiden.

4:50 Nursery

Zabbie (Josephine Gordon)

She’s generally consistent and has a good attitude but this is quite a step up in Grade from a Class 5 and she’s probably up against it.

HAYDOCK

1:30 Novice

Balmaha (Sean Levey)

She cost £125k as a yearling and we’ve been patient with her because she took a bit of time to really come to herself but she’s there now and her work has been very good. She’s by Dark Angel so won’t mind if the ground is soft and I’m hopeful she can run a nice race.

3:15 Handicap

Gisburn (Sean Levey)

I’m not convinced he really stays a mile (especially on soft ground) so we’re dropping right back in trip and he’s come down a few more pounds in the Handicap. He’s got some very smart form and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him show up nicely in this. He’s got lots in his favour.

3:50 Maiden

Onslow Gardens (Sean Levey)

He’s run two very nice races over seven furlongs but is ready for a step up to a mile and a bit of juice in the ground will also help. This looks a very good opportunity and I like him a lot.

4:25 Handicap

Indian Renegade (Sean Levey)

He’s shaped with promise on all his starts and makes his Nursery debut in what looks a pretty competitive race, but he’s in good shape and could run well at a bit of a price.

Nanga Parbat (Dane O’Neill)

He stayed on nicely over six at Chepstow last time so the step back up in trip will help and to be honest I’m surprised he’s still a Maiden. There might not be much room for manoeuvre off his opening mark but this does look to be a very suitable race.

CHESTER

1:40 Novice

Kings Code (Sam Hitchcott)

He ran very green at Leicester so that experience will have done him plenty of good but he still needs to take a huge step forward and he looks one for Handicaps.

2:50 Nursery

Dark Thirty (Sam Hitchcott)

She didn’t stay at Haydock last time and the ground was plenty quick enough as well. This is her first run in a Handicap and she’s got a plum draw in stall one. Sam will make plenty of use of her back down to seven furlongs. I fancy her a lot.

CURRAGH

3:20 Goffs Million

Magical Sunset (Chris Hayes)

This is Europe’s richest two-year-old race and there are lots of other incentives to run so it was a no brainer to give it a shot. She didn’t disgrace herself at Doncaster last time, but I think she’ll be better suited by the step up in trip and we’ve got a decent jockey on board. This is a very tough race but she’s a good filly and has a proper shout.
