DAY three of the Qatar Goodwood Festival sees an excellent renewal of the Nassau Stakes Group 1 with the three-year-olds fillies taking on the older fillies and the five-year-old mare Dreamloper. The 2021 renewal was won by the wonderful mare Lady Bowthorpe for William Jarvis and was a popular winner who received a great reception. This year Nashwa is rightly favourite after her English Oaks third and her win next time out in France of the Group 1 Prix de Diane at Chantilly with Hollie Doyle once again in the plate.

Enjoy the Qatar Nassau Stakes Group 1 whether at Goodwood or #athome watching on ITV Racing or Racing TV.

1.50 Goodwood – Handicap (1m 1f)

Asaassi can make it a three-timer here after winning a maiden comfortably at Salisbury in June over this trip and then delivered an eye-catching success at York on handicap debut when beating Highland Premiere with something in hand. He has been raised 4lbs for that victory and his mark of 90 still looks favourable with the quick conditions ideal.

Natural World impressed me on career debut when winning at Newmarket at their Craven meeting and he then finished third to United Nations in the Lingfield Derby Trial. His one start at Goodwood in a Listed contest is best ignored as he never settled and dropped away quickly. Natural World has since been gelded and made his reappearance after a break of nearly two months when a good fourth behind New London (see the Gordon Stakes) at Newmarket in a hot Heritage Handicap with a good speed figure. He was still too keen at Newmarket, however he could be transformed by the hood and still has plenty of potential to be Group class himself.

2.25 Goodwood – Richmond Stakes Group 2 (6f)

Royal Scotsman form looks very good, especially his third to Bradsell and the second Persian Force (won at Newmarket July Festival) in the Coventry. Also, the speed figures back up what he’s achieving and given he’s already a five-furlong winner here on good to soft here on his second start, he handles the track too. Royal Scotsman is going to take a lot of beating and is a worthy favourite.

3.00 Goodwood – John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes Group 3 (1m 4f)

New London for Charlie Appleby has so much potential to go right to the top and this beaten odds-on Chester Vase favouritre put himself right back in the picture when he beat the previous winner Swilcan Bridge with so much in hand at Newmarket’s July meeting it was frightening. At Chester whether it was the soft going or he wasn’t spot on he was beaten by Changingoftheguard, having looked impressive on seasonal debut when successful at the Craven meeting. New London can beat the Derby second Hoo Ya Mal on the way and continue his progression.

3.35 Goodwood – Nassau Stakes Group 1 (1m 2f)

Fonteyn makes plenty of each-way appeal to finish behind the deserved odds-on favourite Nashwa in a race where many of the runners do not look open to significant improvement. Fonteyn has career form figures of 32-21 and is progressing with every start, having showed a very willing attitude to score at York in a Listed contest over a mile, with the second Grande Dame taking her off her line late on. Fonetyn is very likely to improve again for a step up to this trip (bred for stamina) and could hit the frame at a price.

4.10 Goodwood – Jaeger – Lecoulture Nursery Handicap (7f)

Seductive Power (NAP) for Unibet Ambassador Richard Hannon scored his first career win at Newbury in really eye-catching style when beating Nanga Parbat over six furlongs last month. There was lots to like about his attitude and stepping up to seven furlongs is really going to suit this Kodi Bear colt (won Celebration Mile at Goodwood).

Unibet 5/1 win
