DAY two at the Randox Health Grand National Meeting sees a fantastic renewal of the Mildmay Novices’ Chase, which is a race to savour. Jonbon, the Supreme second to stablemate Constitution Hill, is Unibet Evens to take the Top Novices’ Hurdle, with stablemate First Street Unibet 9/2 to make it a 1-2 for Unibet Ambassador Nicky Henderson.

In the March Melling Chase Grade 1 Fakir D’Oudairies, who won this race last year, is a solid favourite at Unibet 6/4 and I’m looking forward to seeing my nap Mister Coffey run over the National fences in the Randox Topham Handicap Chase.

Enjoy whether at Aintree or #athome watching on ITV and Racing TV.

Cheers

1.45 Aintree – 20 Years Together, Alder Hey & Aintree Handicap Hurdle (2m 4f)

Speech Bubble finished a good second to Love Envoi at Sandown last time out when they were well clear of the field. On her penultimate start she won a Mares’ Novice at Newbury in good style with her stablemate Largy G in third, who franked the form last Saturday, winning the Grade 2 Mares’ Novice at the same course. Speech Bubble was pulled out of this race because of the quick conditions and with ground to suit this mare has a good chance here.

Balco Coastal for Unibet Ambassador Nicky Henderson didn’t like the very testing conditions at Sandown and that run is best forgiven. His form figures for the rest of the season are 112, with his second to North Lodge at Cheltenham on Festival Trials day working out well as the winner almost won Kelso’s Grade 2 Premier Novice Hurdle on next start. Balco Coastal looks well treated off a mark of 134 and he is still improving.

Unibet 11/1

2.55 Aintree – Mildmay Novices’ Chase Grade 1 (3m 1f)

L’Homme Presse can follow up his Festival success in the Brown Advisory and retain his 100% record for the season and record his sixth victory. L’Homme Presse beat Ahoy Senor at Cheltenham with Bravemansgame a late withdrawal due to the testing conditions. Ahoy Senor has won at Aintree and is probably more suited to a flatter track, whilst Bravemansgame comes here fresh with a 100% record for the season, however L’Homme Presse is so relentless and such an intelligent jumper he will win a fascinating renewal.

Unibet 11/8 win

4.05 Aintree – Randox Topham Handicap Chase (2m 5f)

Mister Coffey (nap) for Unibet Ambassador Nicky Henderson was marked up in my Unibet blog to win the Kim Muir and finished second to Chambard after being badly hampered early in the race. He was suited by the step up in the Kim Muir and there is no doubt that the long run from the last here will be in his favour. Back in February Mister Coffey was a distant second to L’Homme Presse at Sandown, however that form has been franked with third Pic D’ Orhy winning since. I have tracked Mister Coffey throughout his career and he can take this big prize here.

Senior Citizen has been placed twice over these fences, including his third in this last year from 6lb lower and was second in the Grand Sefton in November. He warmed up for this with a perfectly respectable third to Paint The Dream at Newbury last time. Drying ground should be spot on for him and if he gets round he looks booked for a place at minimum.

4.40 Aintree – Cavani Menswear Sefton Novices’ Hurdle Grade 1 (3m ½f)

Gentleman At Arms for the inform Stuart Edmunds team looks sure to be well suited by the step up in trip, having won over two miles five furlongs last time out at Huntingdon when making all. Gentleman At Arms was a good second to Stag Horn in the Grade 2 Leamington Novices Hurdle at Warwick in January. Gentlemen At Arms can run a big race here and has been well placed.
