2:10 Pertemps Final

Mill Green (Nico De Boinville)

He’s got some pretty decent form to his name and ran well behind Galopin Des Champs in the Martin Pipe last year. I was pleased enough with his effort at Haydock when second and he comes into this race in very good shape. It’s the Pertemps Final, which is always a fiercely competitive race, but I’m happy with him and he definitely comes into this if getting some luck in running.

Dame De Compagnie (Aidan Coleman)

She’s been a fantastic mare throughout and has already clocked up a win at the festival in the Coral Cup a couple of years ago. We’ve been mixing it up a little bit with chasing and hurdling but she’s quite versatile trip wise and the first time cheek pieces might help as well. Three victories at the track speak for itself and she’s been given a chance by the handicapper.

2:50 G1 Ryanair Chase

Mister Fisher (James Bowen)

We probably shouldn’t have run in the Ascot Chase last time because the ground was much, much too soft for his liking but we took a chance and unfortunately it didn’t pay off, but he still ran very well under the circumstances. There’s plenty of rain forecast on Wednesday which is definitely against us and we’ll have a look at conditions in the morning before making a decision as to whether he runs or not. If it remains good, he’d have a great chance, though, and he’s been in very good form at home. If he doesn’t run here we can always wait for Aintree.

3:30 G1 Stayers’ Hurdle

Champ (Jonjo O’Neill)

He was a little disappointing in the Cleeve on Trials Day so does need to bounce back, but his work and schooling have been very good and on his day he is an extremely talented horse. It’s a good Stayers’ Hurdle and you can make a case for everything in the field but Champ deserves to be there and he comes into this in excellent shape and has a serious chance.

4:10 Handicap Chase

Fusil Raffles (Daryl Jacob)

He’s got a good record at the track and has been in pretty good form all season. The drop back down in trip won’t be an issue, because they’re sure to go off at a good gallop, and he handles most types of ground. He’s a very consistent person and won’t be far away at all.

Pistol Whipped (Nico De Boinville)

He badly needed his first run back and nothing went right for him at Ascot last time so draw a line through that. He’s plenty high enough in the weights but has some good form to his name and could run well at decent odds.

4:50 Mares’ Novice

Ahorsewithnoname (Nico De Boinville)

She’s been very consistent all season and deserves to get her head in front over hurdles after some solid efforts in defeat. We took her away to Kempton a couple of weeks ago which will have sharpened her up nicely for this and she has a very good each way shout in what is a wide open race.

Tweed Skirt (James Bowen)

I’m not convinced she stayed two and a half at Newbury last time so the drop back in trip should help and we’ve tinkered with her wind since her last run. She was good at Ascot on her penultimate start and if she can get into a good position early on she could sneak into a place and gain some more valuable Black Type.

5:30 Kim Muir

Mister Coffey (Sam Waley-Cohen)

He’s taking a big step up in trip but he’s much more settled in his races now and is a horse we’ve always held in very high regard; in fact I thought he would be our best novice chaser at the start of the season but things haven’t entirely gone to plan. That said, he already boasts some very good form over fences, including behind L’Homme Presse in the G1 Scilly Isles at Sandown last time, and the switch back left handed is a massive plus. Sam has been in to school him and I rate his chance quite highly. There is still plenty to come.
