WE are all looking forward to five days of top-class racing from Royal Ascot 2021 with all 35 races being shown on ITV Racing. On course there will be 12,000 racegoers daily, who will be savouring the opportunity to be at the famous Berkshire track for the seven-race card each day, as well as dressing up for this wonderful occasion and enjoying the top quality hospitality too.

This week I am marking the card with five each way selections for Royal Ascot 2021 ahead of the final declarations at the 48-hour stage. Away from the selections below I am relishing Love taking on Lord North in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes on Wednesday and of course seeing Stradivarius in the Gold Cup on Thursday going for his fifth Gold Cup.

Tuesday June 15^th 

2.30 Ascot – Queen Anne Stakes Group 1 (1m 4f)

Lord Glitters (each way) looks a strong each way selection to chase home Palace Pier, who is rightly heavily odds on. Lord Glitters has an excellent record at the course as the winner of the Queen Anne in 2019, following up on his second in 2018.

This evergreen eight-year-old won two of his four starts in Meydan and came fourth to Palace Pier in the Lockinge on his first start for two months when only coming to challenge late on to gain a place. Lord Glitters will come on plenty for that run and the dry forecast will ensure his favoured quick conditions. Note his rating of 115 is only one point lower than when winning the Queen Anne in 2019.

4.20 Ascot – St James’ Palace Stakes Group 1 (7f)

Chindit for Unibet Ambassador Richard Hannon is being overlooked in a race that could cut up at the declaration stage. We know that Newmarket doesn’t suit him, as with the Dewhurst last year, which was also ground too, whilst in the 2,000 Guineas he was doing all his best work late on after not picking up in the dip. Last season he won the Group 2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster on quick going and here at Ascot a Listed contest with the same ground conditions last August.

He really impressed on those occasions and after his Greenham success at Newbury this season he can take his first Group 1.

Wednesday June 16^th

5.00 Ascot – Royal Hunt Cup Heritage Handicap (1m)

Brunch looks to have a good each way chance here following two good performances this season in big field handicaps, with his career record to date with 14 plus runners in handicaps at 1122. Back in March he was second in the Unibet Lincoln at Doncaster and Brunch was then just pipped on the line by Kynren at York last month after being slow leaving the stalls.

Brunch has the right profile for the Royal Hunt Cup with only two starts in 2021 and four -year-olds have a good record too. He has won on good and good to firm so the forecast quick going will suit.

Thursday June 17^th

3.40 Ascot – Ribblesdale Stakes Group 2 (1m 4f)

Sea Karats has had three career starts, has improved considerably on each appearance and this is the right trip for her. This Sea The Stars filly has career form figures of 322 and is a definite each way selection here. She was second in a Listed contest at the Guineas meeting when still looking very inexperienced and then finished in the same position at Yarmouth behind Title, when the first two were clear of the third. The predicted quick going will suit and there will be another step up in performance.

Saturday June 19^th

5.00 Ascot – Wokingham Stakes Heritage Handicap (6f)

Lampang is worth an each way wager after winning off top weight at Hamilton on his last start earlier this month when at the head of affairs throughout and bravely keeping the second Rathbone at bay. This victory was on good to firm going and he will need to see similar conditions for the Wokingham. This four-year-old colt won his first two starts as a juvenile and then was favourite for the Rockingham Stakes, a Listed contest at York when the soft ground scuppered any chance there. Lampang has not been the most consistent since then yet is clearly talented and if he steps up from his Hamilton front running performance he can strike again.
