SANDOWN PARK is a special course and is simply brilliant for both jump and flat racing. I love Saturday’s feature the Grade 1 Tingle Creek Chase and Altior is looking to follow up his fantastic victory over Un De Sceaux in 2018 on what was described as soft going and yet looked much more testing. Un De Sceaux gave his all of course and with his brilliant rival Altior they delivered a great spectacle at an emotionally charged Sandown Park. Providing the ground doesn’t get too heavy then Altior has a great chance of following up.

This is a quality Saturday with a host of stars at Aintree and with the Becher Chase and Grand Sefton over the National fences this will make for some enthralling action.

Whether you are at a racecourse or at home enjoy!

Cheers

1.30 Aintree – Becher Chase (Grand National Fences) Handicap (3m 2f)

Walk In The Mill (nap) is going for his third Becher Chase success and can notch up the three-timer off an eight-pound higher mark than last year. He had a warm up at Ascot and has a great record on his second start of the season with four wins and a second. Walk In The Mill was fourth in the 2019 Grand National to Tiger Roll when looking overpriced and would have been a warm order this year.

1.50 Sandown – Henry VIII Novices’ Chase Grade 1 (1m 7½f)

Phoenix Way is an each way selection in a red hot renewal with Ga Law and Allmankind looking sure to bowl along and make this a true test. Phoenix Way won cosily at Warwick on seasonal debut when challenging late on. He jumped well at Warwick and can come from off the pace here too. It is worth remembering that three of the last five winners have been at double figure prices.

3.00 Sandown – London National Handicap Chase 3m 5f

Crosspark can take advantage in the way this race has cut up and secure his first win of the season, providing it remains soft and doesn’t get too heavy. On his last start he finished second to a revitalised Step Back over three miles here at Sandown and this trip will be much more to his liking this afternoon as Crosspark won the Eider in 2019.

3.15 Aintree – Grand Sefton Chase (Grand National Fences) Handicap (2m 5f)

Springtown Lake was second here to Modus, who reopposes today, at the November meeting and that will have sharpened him up nicely.

He can certainly cope with testing conditions as he showed when winning easily at Warwick in the heavy beating The Bay Birch easily. Springtown Lake has that bit of class about him, having run at The Festival on a couple of occasions, finishing fifth to A Plus Tard back in 2019.

Three of the last five winners have carried eleven stone or more and with 11-2 Springtown Lake is a good each way play.

3.35 Sandown – Handicap Hurdle Listed Race (2m)

Rosie And Millie looks overlooked in this Listed Race after two excellent runs this season.

This mare was fourth in Listed company at Wetherby and then saw them all off bar the possibly Champion Hurdle bound Buzz at Ascot after leading for much of the race. Ground will be no issue and off a workable mark of 130 has a good each way chance at minimum.
