THE Breeders’ Cup returns to the popular Keeneland course in Kentucky for only the second time in its history and it is truly an international festival of racing. There are thirteen Grade 1 races to enjoy over the Friday and Saturday evenings in the UK, with plenty of each way opportunities.

On Saturday it is Wincanton’s big race day of the year, which includes the Unibet Elite Hurdle where Sceau Royal for Alan King would have been my selection even without Goshen’s withdrawal. In the Badger Beer Trophy Handicap Chase conditions look sure to suit Present Man, who can secure his third victory in this race for the Paul Nicholls team.

5.39 Keeneland – Breeders Cup Turf Sprint Grade 1 (5½f)

Glass Slippers loves this time of year and is a good each way shout in an open contest. She has only raced four times so far in 2020 and Glass Slippers certainly looked impressive when winning the Flying Five ahead of just being beaten by a neck when second in the Abbaye. She is so ground versatile and will certainly run her race from stall six.

6.18 Keeneland – Breeders Cup Dirt Mile Grade 1 (1m)

Knicks Go has a tremendous chance here, having broken the course record here last month on his first start since February. This showed a real return to form, as he finished second in the Juvenile back in 2018. Importantly for the dirt course he has good draw in stall five.

Unibet 7/2 win

6.57 KeenelandFilly & Mare Turf Grade 1 (1m1½f)

Peaceful for the Aidan O’Brien team hated the heavy ground at Newmarket in the Sun Chariot and it was better for Ryan Moore to bring her home in her own time. She showed her liking for quick ground earlier in the season when taking the Irish 1,000 Guineas back in June.

Peaceful will have no doubts about this trip and with ground to suit this three-year-old filly has a good chance in a race where only one favourite has won in the last ten years.

8.15 Keeneland – Breeders Cup Mile Turf Grade 1 (1m)

Uni (nap) can win for the Chad Brown team and follow up on her super impressive 2019 success when coming from the back of the field to challenge round the outside.

Last year’s winner looks to have been primed perfectly after her win here last time out, putting her Saratoga disappointment behind her. Draw not ideal but there’s enough pace on, which will help her late charge in a very competitive renewal.

Unibet 6/1 each way

9.33 Keeneland – Breeders Cup Turf Grade 1 (1m 4f)

This renewal is about the European challenge in a contest with lots of questions and at each way price Mehdaayih for the John Gosden team is of definite interest.

There is no doubt that the 2019 Oaks favourite is quirky, and this will only be her third start in the last 12 months. At Ascot last time out, she was given plenty to do when coming round the outside from the back of the field to challenge in the straight. On this occasion her challenge petered out when fourth to Wonderful Tonight and if Mehdaayih can be delivered with a smooth late challenge she could hit the frame or better. She has won on quick ground too.

Unibet 18/1 each way

10.13 Keeneland – Breeders Cup Classic Dirt Grade 1 (1m 2f)

Tiz The Law from stall 2 is a thorough stayer who won the ten furlongs Grade 1 Travers in good style and whilst he didn’t really fire in the Kentucky Derby, this powerful individual will strike back after a break for the Barclay Tagg team.
