NEWMARKET – FRIDAY

2:25 G3 Oh So Sharp Stakes

Thank You Next (Pat Dobbs)

The form of her fifth in the Flying Scotsman Stakes at Doncaster couldn’t have worked out any better as the winner, New Mandate, went on to claim the Royal Lodge last week so there’s a strong look to it and she’ll handle the ground. She’s a very tough and consistent filly who always tries her best and has a great attitude. We gave her a few easy days after her last run so is nicely freshened up and goes there with a solid chance.

Shine For You (Sean Levey)

She’s done nothing wrong in both starts to date and I would have been disappointed had she not got the job done at Leicester last time after an excellent debut at Kempton when she was beaten a short head by another one of ours. This is obviously a big step up the ladder but she’s a smart filly so we might as well have a crack at this decent prize and then we’ll know how good she really is.

4:45 G3 Darley Pride Stakes

Anna Nerium (Sean Levey)

There’s nothing not to like about her and everyone loves her around the yard. It was great to see her get her head back in front at Goodwood last time on her first run at a mile and a quarter so now we know she stays – it’s taken us long enough to find out!  This is a very competitive race and will take plenty of winning but she’s in good form on and off the track and she’ll have no worries with the ground or track.

YORK

2:05 Handicap

Ouzo (Kieran O’Neill)

I don’t think he stayed 1m2f at Newbury last time so the drop back down to a mile will help, but it will need to because he’s starting to prove a little frustrating and needs to put his best foot forward if he’s to trouble the judge. He’s gone down a couple of pounds in the weights but is still five or six pounds higher than his winning mark and for that reason he looks up against it here.
