Everything looked in place for a big run from him at Doncaster last time but he simply failed to pick up there after travelling well enough into the race. He is obviously better than that and he will love the ground if it stays on the quick side and appreciate it if a decent pace is set by the likes of Withhold and Mildenberger – and they are obviously the form horses, too – but the official ratings tell you he has a very big job on at these weights. But sometimes these small-field conditions races can throw up some surprising results, so he has a chance of sorts if there is minimal rain from now on and the ground remains quick.
