DESPITE the weather on Thursday we saw some cracking performances, including Tactical at Newmarket and Rose Of Kildare at York.
The second day of the Moët & Chandon July Festival has excellent Group racing as well as some fascinating handicap races.
Enjoy the Moët & Chandon July Festival at Home.

12.10 – Newmarket Cash Out Handicap (1½m)
Arthurian Fable finished a close fifth at Royal Ascot in a rough King George V Stakes behind Hukum, with Group One Power who renews rivalry, finishing one place ahead. The form is good, as the eighth Win O’ Clock, won earlier this week.
Arthurian Fable looks much better value than Group One Power in this contest, as he looked intimidated throughout and with a smooth run would have had a great chance of winning at Ascot. Interestingly, the handicapper has raised him four pounds for that performance.
If you rewatch Arthurian Fable’s seasonal appearance on the Rowley Mile, when a short head second, you will see how straightforward he is and coupled with good form on all types of going he is right in the picture here.

2.25 – Newmarket – Duchess Of Cambridge Group 2 (6f)
Dandalla was mighty impressive when winning the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot by six lengths on good to soft, quickening away in great style. This followed her maiden success at Newcastle when winning by a couple of lengths and looks booked for a three timer today.
Unibet 13/8 win
3.00 – Newmarket – Handicap (1m 6f)
Christopher Wood for Paul Nicholls won with a lot more in hand than the half-length margin at Pontefract over one mile four furlongs. He didn’t get the run until very late on and this step up in trip looks sure to suit. The four pound rise still leaves him on fair mark compared to his hurdles mark and has no weight to carry. Ground conditions aren’t a concern either as he has won on good to soft.
Unibet 9/1 each-way
Severance has been second on his two starts of 2020, finding the going too lively at Windsor last time out, after running well here over two furlongs shorter behind Holy Kingdom, who renews rivalry today.
Severance will definitely stay, has won on good to soft and Rob Hornby once again take the ride.

3.35 – Newmarket Heritage Handicap (1m3f)
Lucander is a really interesting contender here for the Ralph Beckett team, as he has been
campaigned at a mile but looks ready for one mile two furlongs (stamina on dam’s side) and has improved with every start so far. He won swooping late last season at York on soft going and then on his one start in this season he was a very close third at Haydock, again doing his best work at the finish. Very genuine and has to be an each-way play.

4.10 Newmarket – Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes Group 1 (1m)
Terebellum (nap) for the John Gosden team looks the class act. The drop back to one mile produced her a career best at Royal Ascot when a neck second to Circus Maximus in the Queen Anne Stakes, following a win here on the Rowley Mile on his first appearance in 2020. Terebullum has shown her ground versatility too, with a win on good to firm and good to soft. I fully expect her stablemate Nazeef to finish second.
