I WOULDN'T look beyond Asterion Forlonge in the Supreme, and I take Fakir D’oudairies to overturn his previous form with Notebook in the Arkle.

I honestly couldn’t tell you what will win the Unibet Champion Hurdle but I put up Call Me Lord at 20/1 each way at Cheltenham Preview nights, so I will stick with that!

It is Benie Des Dieux for me all the way in the Mares’ Hurdle, while I like the look of Nico’s Precious Cargo in the 2m4f novices’ handicap chase. I think the step up in trip will really suit him, and he is a good jumper and a straightforward horse.

You are on your own in the National Hunt Chase, as nothing leapt out at me.

Cheltenham Festival Tuesday

2.50pm

Mulcahys Hill

I can see him running a nice race at a big price. He probably wouldn’t have an obvious chance on his last two runs, as he ran no kind of race at Aintree and then was well beaten in a match at Newcastle last time. But I think a mark of 144 is very fair if he comes back to the form of his defeat of Wholestone here in October – it was good to see him do it there after three modest previous efforts at Cheltenham – and we have been very happy with him at home of late. And hopefully he will improve a lot for that Newcastle run, his first start since having a wind op after Aintree. Soft ground is a plus for him, and clearly the trip isn’t a problem. I schooled him on Friday and he is in good form; he has the ability but he is a quirky character.
