Leopardstown

12.05pm

Pepperoni Pete

He has been running well on the all weather and he has experience over hurdles and that is always an asset in juvenile contests. He has had a wind op since he last ran over hurdles, but he’s in a very good form and is schooling well and I think he’ll run a nice race. This is traditionally a very good race and has been won in the last two years by the ill fated Sir Erec and Mr Adjudicator, who was second in a Triumph Hurdle and has since won a Grade 1 in France.

Sizing Pottsie

He will start off over fences here. This has the makings of a very good race and while he has been running well over hurdles, he seems to have a lot more respect for his fences, so we’ll go this route with him. He is a fine big horse, who was always going to go chasing and rather than wait until later in the season, we’ll let him take his chance and see how he gets on. He’s a horse that we’ve always liked and hopefully he’ll make into a very nice chaser.

Jetz

He has a good bit to do ratings and this is a good Grade 1. In fact on paper this looks a hell of a race with the likes of Chacun Pour Soi in the line-up. Our horse fell the last day in Navan, but he is normally a very good jumper. I’d be delighted if he could pick up some prize money.

Got Trumped

I am looking forward to running him. He hasn’t run since the spring and he had a wind op over in the summer, but he seems to be in very good form. He ran some very good races for us last season and hopefully he’ll progress and compete in some good race for us this season. He is fit and well and has plenty done, but he might just need a bit further than two miles. I think he’ll appreciate the soft ground.

He deserves to take his chance in a race like this. He has a good record around Leopardstown and he likes to be handy and is a very solid jumper. I just hope the ground isn’t too soft for him. He has been in very good form and he jumps and stays. He has a nice weight on his back and if things go his way, I think he’ll represent us very well.
