He ran well after a mid-season break with a close third over 5f at Thirsk last time, though I thought the handicapper was a bit harsh in raising him 2lb for it. However, he has run well off higher marks than this in the past, and the heavy ground would probably have to concern you more, given he hasn’t raced on anything worse than good to soft. There is only one way to find out, and his stable is in excellent form.

Came From The Dark

Haydock and heavy ground obviously suit him well, and he absolutely bolted up here last time, making it two from three at the track. He paid for that win with a 10lb rise, but he has to be a player here all the same if in the same form, for all that win came in a 0-85 and this is now a 0-105.

She hasn’t done as well as expected in two outings this season but she has had her wind done since we last saw her and she has come down another 2lb. She won over 2m in the soft at Ffos Las this time last year, so hopefully she can show more here, and the cheek pieces that she wore for her three wins last term are back on here, too.

He defied a long absence to win by 4 lengths over course and distance in the soft earlier in the month. He went up 6lb for that win, which looked fair enough, so he should give a good account with conditions to suit ag
