Caesonia

Charlie has won this race in recent years and hopefully his Caesonia proves as successful. She is a half-sister to a couple of decent winners, and her pedigree gives you some encouragement that the mile should be okay for her, but who knows what you are getting in a race like this.

Starlight

Another newcomer, and one that fetched a fair few quid as a yearling, but I haven’t sat on her yet. She is certainly bred to be smart, out of a mare who won in Listed company in France over 1m1f, and the 7f looks the right starting point for her on pedigree.

4.45pm

Vindolanda

This novice could take some winning but Vindolanda has the benefit of a fair debut run over 7f at Wolverhampton in December, and she gets the allowances here as the only filly in the line-up. The step up to 1m2f could really suit her too, as a Nathaniel, even though there is a fair bit of speed in her pedigree as well.

Archaeology

His win came over an extended 5f in Ireland but he had form over 7f, and his pedigree suggests he should get even further than this mile in future. He cost 50,000gns at the sales and has been gelded since his last run, so hopefully a mark of 77 can see him competitive on his debut for his new stable. It looks a very competitive handicap, though, so this could be tough for him.
