DESPITE the weather a cracking day yesterday and on Ladies’ Day we can look forward to dry conditions, with another top racing day ahead.
My recommended tipple on course is the Coates & Seely Rosé from this excellent Sparkling producer from Hampshire.
Cheers!
1.45 – Handicap Hurdle 2m 4f
Tedham couldn’t have been more impressive than when winning easily at Wincanton when last seen, and that form has worked out very well. 6lb higher here but looks to have been saved with a spring campaign in mind. Seemed happy enough in testing conditions when second to Getaway Trump at Exeter in December.
Unibet win 4/1
2.20 – Novices Hurdle 2m
Winston C looked beaten all ends up at halfway at Kelso but dug very deep to win and deserves his place in what looks a fairly week line up. Not the biggest but keeps improving with each run, acts on all ground, and has a turn of foot. Each-way chance against the big guns, and acted very well on heavy ground at Sandown.
Unibet each way 10/1
2.55 – Novices Chase 3m
Topofthegame (tipped up at The Festival) ran a terrific race to win a hot RSA Chase at Cheltenham and this very exciting prospect can increase his 2020 Gold Cup credentials.
Unibet win 5/6
3.25 Melling Chase 2m 4f
Politologue (nap) ran better than ever in this year’s Champion Chase when second to Altior, his first really good run at Cheltenham for a while. He looks to a have a really good chance on following up on last year’s success in a fascinating renewal with Waiting Patiently and Min in the field.
Unibet win 11/4
4.05 – Topham Chase 2m 5f
Call It Magic stays very well and if this was good ground, then it would arguably too short, but the ground is going to make this feel like 3m+ and that brings him right into it. Good fourth in the Becher (when probably doing too much too soon) and a huge chance here.
Unibet each way 7/1
Double Shuffle can run a big race at a massive price. He was pulled at Cheltenham in the Gold Cup, having delivered an excellent jumping performance to win at Kempton on his penultimate. Two of the last five winners have carried big weights too.
Unibet each way 33/1
4.40 – Novice Hurdle 3m
This looks like a contest to look outside the top of the market and Nicky Henderson’s Downtown Getaway looked impressive when winning at Ascot last time out. He has definite each way claims here.
Unibet each way 12/1
5.15 – Bumper 2m
McFabulous was disappointing behind Master Debonair at Cheltenham but clearly something not right that day, as he was impressive at Newbury latest, coming right away under hands and heels. Should progress again and the one to beat on what could be a big day for Paul Nichols.
Unibet win 5/2
