GREAT news we are back racing! Ironically this is the not the most awe inspiring Wednesday raceday in which to celebrate the return of our wonderful sport over the jumps at Musselburgh and Plumpton, with the flat at Southwell and Kempton.

The BHA who have been unfairly criticised by some during the equine flu outbreak have been swift to ensure that we have a Super Saturday to savour with Ascot, Haydock and Wincanton.

Also if you are looking forward to a long weekend then head off to Sandown on Friday, as they are also featuring the Kingmaker Chase switched from Warwick.

Go racing!

2.10 Plumpton Hurdle

Baddesley Knight can defy a penalty and hold off main market rival Acey Milan, who has so far failed to reproduce his bumper form. Baddlesley Knight won over course and distance last month, having to be ridden out after finding the ground too testing at Sandown on his previous start.

This trip might somewhat be on the short side for Good Man Pat but the soft/heavy ground compensates for that, and he rather caught the eye behind the classy pair of Master Dino and Knocknanuss here last time out. Far from knocked around there, he jumped very nicely and can only improve. Can take care of his two rivals with a similar display.

4.10 Plumpton 3m 1f Hurdle

Tractor Fred was out of his depth last time but previously had run a very solid third to the useful Mr Pumblechook here, looking very much like a step up in trip may help. Gets that here, plus a first time tongue-tie and although a bit of improvement is needed to take this, it may well be forthcoming.

5.15 Kempton 1m 3f

A weak contest that’s there for the winning, and Pat Phelan, who had such a good time of it last month, might have the winner in the shape of The Celtic Machine. Most from his yard of Thomas Greatrex need a trip, and this one looks no exception on the three runs he’s had so far. Showed a bit more last time and he may well step up again here.

Ulster (nap) can follow up a smart course and distance success beating the favourite Ramsbury by five lengths after a break of 432 days last month. This was Ulster's stable debut for Archie Watson and this four-year-old looks to have a very good chance of securing a second career victory.
