Matches to follow on Tuesday, February 12

Tuesday sees the majority of first-round of matches take place in Cardiff and there are some big names on show over at Unibet TV!

Ronnie O’Sullivan vs Sanderson Lam – 13:00 GMT

Ronnie is a 1.01 favourite to win this match and should have no problem against Lam. O’Sullivan heads into this tournament having reached the Masters final already this year. He has never played Lam but should have no problem against the Leeds lad. Expect Ronnie to win this match comfortably. He is 1.20 to claim the first frame and 2.05 to win with a -3.5 handicap.

Stuart Bingham vs Ali Carter – 14:00 GMT

Carter boasts a W15 D1 L9 record over Bingham yet is the 2.00 underdog here. That’s because Bingham has won his last five matches against today’s opponent. None of those matches have been close, with Bingham most recently beating Carter 3-1 in the 2019 Championship League. A Bingham win is priced at 1.78.

Mark Selby vs Anthony McGill – 19:00 GMT

Selby is 1.30 to beat McGill and extend his three-match winning streak over the Scotsman. Selby has dropped just four frames from his last 19 against McGill and beat him 3-1 in the 2019 Champions League last month. McGill did win their tightest tussle 13-9 at the 2015 World Championship but it is Selby who has kicked on since then. He should win this match comfortably.

Neil Robertson vs Jordan Brown – 20:00 GMT

Robertson is seeded 10th for the Welsh Open and is a good outside bet to win the tournament at 15.00. Barry Hawkins is his only real threat up the quarter-final stages and Robertson boasts a winning record over the Englishman. Tuesday sees Aussie Robertson take on World Number 106 Brown. They have never met before and Robertson is 1.10 to win. This is a great match to add to any snooker combination bet.

Welsh Open snooker winning bets

So who will win the Welsh Open snooker? Well, O’Sullivan is 3.75 to claim the trophy but that price isn’t very tempting. Yes, Ronnie can blow everyone away on his day but, in week-long tournaments such as this, there are hurdles he sometimes cannot overcome.

Instead, Trump at 7.00 is a tasty bet. The 29-year-old won the Masters last month and the World Grand Prix this February. Trump is on fire right now and the man to live stream snooker and bet on when possible.

The only issue for Trump is that he is in O’Sullivan’s side of the draw. Xiao Guodong and Ali Carter – semi finalists at the World Grand Prix – are also in the top half. So that could prove tricky. Therefore, a player from the bottom half may be more tempting.

Sixth seed Mark Allen is already through to the second round after a routine 4-2 win over Mark Joyce. Allen’s only real challenger up to the quarters would be 11th seed Shaun Murphy, who he beat 9-7 in the Scottish Open last year. Allen is well placed at 15.00 to win this title.
