Qipco

DAY one of the three-day Qipco Guineas Festival at Newmarket on the Rowley Mile at the headquarters of flat racing. This is a meeting I always look forward to with the Qipco 2,000 Guineas on Saturday and the Qipco 1,000 Guineas on Sunday.

In the meantime, I’m looking forward to seeing Time Lock in action on the Rowley Mile on Friday after her brilliant success in the Princess Royal Stakes Group 3 last September at Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire meeting.
Looking forward to being at Newmarket for all three days of racing.

Enjoy whether at Newmarket or watching #athome on ITV Racing or Racing TV.

Cheers

2.25 Newmarket – Newmarket Stakes Listed (1m 2f)

Endless Victory is an obvious candidate for this and won at Newmarket on Craven day last month when showing plenty of determination to beat Salamanca by a short head. I was at the Craven meeting that day and you had to be impressed with this Teofilo colt in the parade ring too. This trip is absolutely fine, as he showed at the Craven meeting and Endless Victory can win here with 1m 4f looking well within his compass for the future. He is entered in the Derby and King Edward VII.

3.00 Newmarket – Handicap (7f)

Thunder Ball looks the one to be with. A solid effort in the Lincoln was followed by an improved fourth in a competitive 21 runner Spring Cup at Newbury last time, and he looks to have been brought nicely to the boil here. The yard is in flying form, he should get a lovely tow into this from Lethal Levi, and he’ll not care if the rain comes either. There is plenty to like about his chances.

4.10 Newmarket – Jockey Club Stakes Group 2 (1m 4f)

Time Lock (nap) ran away with the Princess Royal Stakes Group 3 here in imperious style last September, proving her stamina for this trip beyond doubt, and with the yard making such a good start to the season, she looks the one to be with her getting a 3lb sex allowance here. Good to soft ground would be fine and she looks nailed on to run her race against one or two with stamina still to prove at this trip.

4.45 Newmarket – Handicap (1m)

Skukuza was a big eyecatcher at the Craven meeting, looking in need of the run beforehand but still running a lovely race to finish a staying-on sixth in a maiden expected to work out very well as the season progresses. He is up a furlong in trip for his handicap debut today, which looks ideal and expect a good step forward.
